In over 50 years in the interior design field, these are some of the questions we are most often asked – so we hope these responses are helpful. If you have any other inquiries about our industry or how we work, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Why should I hire an interior designer?

Hiring an interior designer is a small decision that makes a big difference in how your project will ultimately turn out.  A professional interior designer from Interiors Joan and Associates can guide you through every step of the new construction or renovation process, keeping your project on budget and on time.  Our designers also have years of experience and countless relationships with vendors and contractors who will deliver the end result you desire.

Why should I hire you?

Interiors Joan and Associates is a professional interior design firm that has been in business for over 50 years.  We hire only the most experienced and talented designers. Additionally, we work with only the most qualified installers and contractors and have developed relationships with and buy from only the highest quality furnishings lines.  This quality of service and product is passed directly to you.  Our extensive resource library and vast knowledge of the industry are key attributes that set our firm apart.

How qualified are your interior designers?

We only hire designers that have 4-year college degrees from accredited universities.  All of our designers are affiliated with the American Society of Interior Designers and are required to complete annual Continuing Education credits to maintain their professional status.  We care about the work that goes out of our doors; we care about our designers’ career growth path; most of all we care about you and your project.

How do I prepare for the initial consultation with my interior designer?

Before you meet with your interior designer, think about your project and what you want to accomplish. For instance,  how will your family live in the space, do you really need more storage or is it more about a comfortable place to sit?  What types of designs do you like?  What colors do you like?  Collect pictures of rooms or spaces that speak to you, or create an idea book online.  All of these clues will help your designer to create a look JUST FOR YOU.  And perhaps just as importantly…  understand your budget and expectations.

Is any project too small?

Nope.  We work on multi-million dollar new construction projects and we do things as simple as a new window shade or accent pillows. We are here to help you achieve the look you want, no matter what it takes to get there.

Can you help us comply with Health and Safety legislations?

Absolutely.  All our designers are affiliated with the American Society of Interior Designers assuring we have up-to-date education on current codes and products whether that be an ADA design, a commercial or a residential project.

How do you charge?

We work in a variety of ways.  When we meet for your initial consultation, we will discuss the scope of your project and determine what will be the most cost efficient way to help you achieve your design goals.  Though we typically work on new construction and renovation projects by the hour, we tailor our services to meet your specific needs.

I don’t know what style I want… can you still help?

Absolutely!  That’s our job.  We will help you to decipher the look and the feel that will most reflect you and your personality.  Then we’ll make sure that this look is translated into a design plan that will work with your lifestyle.

Can you incorporate my favorite pieces of furniture or accessories into the design?

Yes!  Our designers can help you edit your existing pieces to determine which ones will fit into your new space.  And if you have treasures from travels, or family heirloom pieces that you want to work into the new design, we are experts at weaving them all together.

When should I hire an interior designer?

You should hire an interior designer at the earliest stage of your project.  Including this professional in the beginning allows the designer to assist you with every decision and material specification, creating a look and feel that is carried throughout your home or office project.  It also wards off expensive mistakes that may have to be addressed late in the process.
